RAF Biggin Hill
Restoration of RAF railings and gates
One of the most famous Battle of Britain airfields, Biggin Hill played a major role in defending London during WWII. The airfield was attacked by the Luftwaffe twelve times between August 1940 and January 1941. Many wartime buildings survive and the site will soon have a new museum, adjacent to the memorial chapel. HOLT has given a grant to restore the 1930s RAF gates and railings that mark the entrance to the site.
