Cranford Village Lock Up

Restoration of Cranford village lock up

Built in 1838, possibly replacing an earlier building on this site, Cranford's village lock up was a temporary detention for local rogues caught by the village constable. Later superseded by police stations with their own cells, it is a rare survival in London, though a number are still found outside the capital. Restoration was completed in 2017 by HOLT and Hounslow Council and included a new roof, restored iron bars and door and an interpretation panel.

The project features in Secrets of London episode: Highwayman's Lock up!
